Thomas Borncamp graduated with high honors from the University of California, Davis in 1992 with a B.A. degree in History and Political Science. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1996 and was admitted to practice in California that same year. He worked for a year in the political section of the U.S. Embassy in Paris and served briefly as an election supervisor in Bosnia before joining the defense firm of Richardson, Bambrick, Cermak & Fair. He has successfully defended vehicle, tire, sporting goods, safety equipment, fire protection, respiratory protection and other product manufacturers, as well as Fortune 500 Companies in high-exposure, complex lawsuits and class actions.
Mr. Borncamp has been lead trial counsel in numerous products liability and other complex cases. He previously tried cases involving motorcycle, automobile, bus, and commercial truck collisions—winning the Litigator of the Year Award in 1998 and awards for outstanding trial results in 1998 and 1999 from the Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club. In 2007, Mr. Borncamp was recognized by Law & Politics as one of Southern California's "Rising Stars" in the field of civil litigation. His practice also involves managing national and regional litigation and providing specialized guidance regarding discovery to U.S. and foreign corporate defendants. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Defense Research Institute, National Fire Protection Association, and the Legal Task Force for the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association.
Mr. Borncamp has spoken on trial practice at the Association of Corporate Counsel and he has presented seminars on discovery practices and document retention for numerous corporate clients. He joined Yukevich Calfo & Cavanaugh in April of 2000.
