Mr. Cartwright has successfully represented corporations, insurers, and individuals in a wide variety of legal contexts and has handled actions from inception to resolution in both New York and California. His achievements include winning motions for summary judgment after contested oral argument and drafting a successful motion for attorneys’ fees filed in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Cartwright has managed a multi-million dollar caseload focused on construction defect actions and insurance coverage matters involving declaratory relief, breach of contract, bad faith, contribution, and reimbursement causes of action.
Before becoming a member of the California State Bar, Mr. Cartwright was an associate at Stern & Montana, LLP in Manhattan where his practice was comprised of insurance coverage matters and affirmative recovery actions based on fraud under the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
Mr. Cartwright graduated from Fordham University School of Law with a J.D. in 2009 as well as an LL.M. in Banking, Corporate, and Finance Law in 2011. During law school, Mr. Cartwright served as a member of the Student Hurricane Network (now “Disaster Relief Network”) as well as the Securities Litigation and Arbitration Clinic. During his time with the Securities Litigation and Arbitration Clinic, Mr. Cartwright drafted and presented the opening statement for his investor-client at a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitration. In addition, Mr. Cartwright earned Dean’s List Honors, and upon graduation he was awarded the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award.
Mr. Cartwright is licensed to practice law in California and New York, and before the United States District Courts for the Central District of California, Southern District of New York, and Eastern District of New York. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
