James Yukevich, founder and partner of Yukevich | Cavanaugh, was recently quoted in a CNBC article, “Uber, Lyft and the Gig Economy Think They’ve Found a Way to Win the National Labor War” to shed insight on California’s Proposition 22.
At the end of July, California’s top state court supported Prop. 22, which allows app-based services like Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash to categorize their drivers as independent contractors instead of employees.
James Yukevich noted that “the California decision is a model for other states to take a good close look at.”
After the proposition went into effect, a majority of California drivers reported the proposition impacting them positively. Now other states are considering following in California’s footsteps.
