Ms. Mate has advised public entities on compliance with state laws and regulations concerning public construction. Her recent litigation experience includes successfully defending the County of Los Angeles against a potential $200 million loss in two related taxpayer class actions and obtaining dismissal of a $20 million suit against an international insurance company. She also has represented Fortune 500 companies in matters involving antitrust and products liability. Prior to joining Yukevich | Cavanaugh, Ms. Mate was an associate at a large international law firm where she specialized in the practice of complex civil litigation and appeals.
Ms. Mate graduated cum laude from Loyola Law School Los Angeles in 2006. While at Loyola, she served as Managing Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review, was elected to be a member of the Order of the Coif and the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society, and was designated a Sayre Macneil Scholar–an honor awarded to the top 5% of the class.
