Andrew J Black is an associate in the Los Angeles office. Mr. Black has dedicated his career to representing individuals, businesses, non-profits, and public agencies throughout California, defending various types of premises liability, construction defect, and personal injury large-scale liability cases. For over twenty-years, Andrew has defended non-profits, schools, cities, departments, government agencies, business and individuals in personal injury litigation. Some of the claims included in these cases include vehicular accidents, construction accidents, school ground accidents, asbestos exposure, and intentional torts, such as assault, battery, harassment, and misrepresentation. He has also defended non-profits and businesses in disputes involving real property, including premises liability, construction defect, trespass, and invasion of privacy. Some of the cases included in this area include residential and commercial negligent construction involving water intrusion, framing and foundation failure, plumbing, roofing, and flatwork. Andrew has also handled landlord-tenant disputes involving habitability and eviction claims. Some of the claims included in these cases include mold and asbestos exposure, pest infestation, failure to repair, water intrusion, and wrongful eviction from public accommodations. Andrew has also helped defend national-brand companies in civil litigation involving such issues as negligence, employment, wage and hour, as well as asbestos-litigation involving ships, refractory materials, construction materials, electrical components and friction materials.
Andrew is published in the appellate case of In Re Conservatorship of Whitely (2007) 155 Cal.App.4th 1447, when he helped defend California Regional Centers for the developmentally Disabled. Andrew has also completed transactional work, forming corporations, tax-exempt non-profits, and filing and enforcing trademark rights before the USPTO.
